Nice and calm and perfect beaches..

Nice place to stay, friendly people, swimmingpool was great for our kids alsobecause of the baby part. Only thing is that they did not serve any alcohol so we went out to eat at nearby very nice restaurants.

Nice, confirtable stay at a superb location

The location: the hotel is located at a fabulous location between a large lagoon and magnificent Marakolliya beach at the end of a dirt road, about 10 minutes drive out of town. Don’t be put off by the rough road. There are plenty of other beach bars and restaurants within easy walking distance if you want a change of venue or go out for drinks or meals and there is absolutely no traffic noise, because the road ends at the hotel. The resident tuk-tuk driver will take you into town for only 200-300 Rupees if you need to go the ATM or do shopping .The hotel: the hotel has a nice open-plan lobby and restaurant, as well as a lovely swimming pool. The hotel rooms are housed in a number of 2 storey buildings along the lagoon with views over the beach and the Indian Ocean. There is free wifi in the restaurant and pool area. The swimming pool is nice and clean and a good place to be, if you are not in the mood to walk to the safe swimming area further down the beach.Apparently there were a number of low-set bungalows closer to the beach, but they were destroyed in the Tsunami and were not re-built. The remaining buildings all survived that terrible event, which is good to know.The room was clean, spacious and pleasant.The large double bed was comfortable, aircon and ceiling fan seemed fairly new and worked fine and without making noise. Bathroom could do with a touch up, but everything was in working order. There was a tv, but we never used it, as there were far better things to do, like sitting on the cosy front balcony overlooking the beach and the Indian Ocean. There is also a large patio/landing at the back of the building overlooking the lagoon. No wifi in the rooms, but mobile reception was ok most of the time. There is a jug for boiling water and free coffee/tea and drinking water, which is replenished every day. Linen and towels were clean. The restaurant is great and will make proper Sri Lankan curries on request. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
